Flying to Malta

Malta is well-connected via air, with frequent direct flights from major airport hubs in Europe and beyond, including Heathrow, Frankfurt, Munich, Gatwick, Schiphol, Athens, Istanbul, Dubai, Paris, and more.

Additionally, as a popular tourist destination, Malta is served by direct low-cost airline connections from dozens of airports across Europe, with companies like Ryanair, WizzAir, and EasyJet.

If you are flying to Malta via air, you will land at the Malta International Airport. The airport facilitates numerous options, such a 24/7 airport taxi service and a vending machine where you can purchase Malta public transport bus cards. Buses are the sole mode of public transport in Malta.

Ride-sharing apps like Bolt, eCabs, and Uber are also an option. In general, a taxi ride from the airport to central areas like Valletta or Sliema will take about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic, and cost anywhere between €10-20.

By Rail and Sea

If you wish to lower your carbon footprint and make an adventure of it, it’s possible to get to Malta without flying!

Malta is connected to the port of Pozzallo, Sicily, via a ferry service. There are a number of options for traversing Italy and arriving in Pozzallo by train - this website covers the main options.

If you take this option, you’ll sail right into Malta’s historic Grand Harbour, and dock right under the walls of the fortified capital city of Valletta - less than ten minutes on foot from the conference venue!
